Starting a blog..

Since graduating from my bachelor's degree in journalism this year, I found myself daydreaming about starting something of my own. On my way to work I started listening to podcasts that really inspired and motivated me. One of them is: The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Podcast, by Lauren Evarts Bosstick and Michael Bosstick.
They just released a new episode with podcast host and best-selling author Mel Robbins: Episode linked to Spotify here. This episode emphasises on Mel Robbins work and helpful tools in life, perfect to start the new year with. One of them is the 5 Second Rule. A helpful countdown technique to help you execute the things you are putting off.
I procrastinated starting this blog for so long. I am a perfectionist. It would never be good enough for me to launch. The saying: "Launch Fast & Adjust", from one of the podcast episodes with Lauren Bosstick, really motivated me to start.
I realised that I have been following a stream of just doing what is expected of me. Instead of focusing on my own goals. Which in many ways was easier, fulfilling other people's expectations, instead of going after what I truly want. As, for the things I really want to achieve, I fear failure the most. Fear of failure, held me back for a long time.
How other people see me, with the fear of looking stupid or like I am trying too hard etc. Has also been hindering me, when it comes to reaching for my true dreams and goals. Mel Robbins: "Let Them Theory" was one of the things that helped me change my mindset and overcome this.
-Instead of trying to control things or people that you do not have control over, tell yourself "Let them". For example, let other people think what they want. Focus on what you want to do and achieve for yourself, as long as it brings you happiness, that's all that matters. "Let them".
Mel Robbins also explains this theory in her book. I heard about this theory in the midst of starting my blog, as she was guesting on the Skinny Confidential podcast episode, which was perfect timing.
I set new goals for myself this year, to try out, and let the fear of the unknown be the worst possible outcome. Worse than failure and worse than what others might think of me. The fear of the unknown is worse, because if you never try, you will never know what might happen.
I finally launched the blog. It is not what I would describe as anywhere near 'perfect', yet. I left the design a bit artsy, a bit messy even. I wanted it to have a charactaristic look, and to stand out. To me, it is giving a bit 2000s, 'Tumblr nostalgia'.
What inspires you? What helps you stay motivated? Any design tips for the blog or ideas for design and future posts please share in the comments! My goal is to grow and evolve, find like minded people and share tips togehter. Motivate each other to go for our dreams!

With love,
